Reclaiming the Dominion Mandate

DAY 13 OF 90 DAYS WATCHING WITH THE LORD - JEREMIAH 1:11 GENERATION

God's Unchanging Intent for Heavenly Governance on the Earth

The modern church has lost its focus by adopting an evacuation mentality, prioritizing getting people to heaven over training them to rule the earth. This misconception directly contradicts Scripture. God did not design mankind to steward the heavenly realm; He created us to govern the physical earth from a place of Holy Communion in the Garden.

This original blueprint is anchored permanently in Genesis 1:26–28:

Genesis 1:26–28 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion... over all the earth..." Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion..."

"Subdue" is a strong word — a word of conquest. It reveals that our dominion was never meant to be uncontested. In Hebrew, the word is kabash, a military term meaning to bring into bondage or to place one's foot on a conquered foe's neck.

God had already given Adam authority over the earth, and He called creation "very good," meaning this aggressive mandate was never aimed at the physical earth itself. It was aimed at an adversary.

The serpent's presence proves that something had already moved against the earth before man drew his first breath. Behind that serpent stood the fallen powers Ezekiel and Isaiah describe — rebellious entities that had already compromised the heavens before God placed Adam in the Garden to guard it. "Subdue" was a declaration of spiritual warfare.

God's blueprint has never changed: the church must stop acting like refugees waiting for a rescue mission and start acting like an army occupying its rightful inheritance.

GOD'S DOOR INTO THE WATERS

Adam was created to bring heaven to earth — he was literally designed to be the gateway between realms.

The three Hebrew letters that make up his name (אדם – Aleph, Dalet, Mem) reveal this mystery before a single narrative verse explains it:

  • Aleph (א): Pictured as an ox, representing a strong leader. The rabbis have long read it as a picture of the one true God, the Father Himself.

  • Dalet (ד): Pictured structurally as a door or a pathway.

  • Mem (ם): Pictured as water, flowing waves, or chaos.

Put these three letters together, and Adam's own name reads: God's door into the waters. He was the Father's personal threshold, set directly in the middle of cosmic chaos, meant to govern it by divine authority.

This precise architecture is captured in Genesis 2:7:

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

God formed man from the earth and instantly awakened him with the (ruach) breath of His mouth. This fusion of dust and Spirit was not incidental to the story — it is the story.

We were set down as a living threshold to govern the earth, with the breath of God moving out of us. Mankind was made in the image and likeness of God, not merely to look like Him, but to represent and operate like Him. The same voice that called creation into being is the very voice that activates and governs it through us today.

Man is still a gate, and two kingdoms are locked in a violent custody battle over it: the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. Whoever we ultimately submit to possesses our gate. The church must wake up, reclaim its original identity, and stop yielding its cosmic gateway to the adversary.

PRIEST OF THE GARDEN-MOUNTAIN

To understand this warfare, we must examine Eden's geography. Eden was never simply a flat garden on the ground. As Ezekiel 28:13–14 reveals when addressing the fallen cosmic power:

Ezekiel 28:13–14 You were in Eden, the garden of God... You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; you were on the holy mountain of God; you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

Eden was a mountain. This means Adam's original commissioning was the exact same kind of mountain-encounter we see later at Mount Sinai. From Eden to Sinai, the Lord has always called His people to a high place to cultivate His presence, worship Him in spirit, and walk in covenant faithfulness.

Mark 3:13–15 And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.

This mountain commission also appears in the New Testament in Mark 3:13-15, where Jesus ascends a mountain and summons those He wants to join Him. This again calls people to ascend his holy mountain, Zion; we see this imagery in Hebrews 12, Psalm 24, and Revelation 4.

Eden was the gateway between two realms — close enough to the divine council of God that the Lord walked there with Adam in the cool of the day. From this mountain stronghold, the Lord instructed Adam to rule.

ADAM WAS THE FIRST PRIEST AND KING

The blueprint of this rule is defined in Genesis 2:15:

Genesis 2:15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

Every root word in this verse carries profound covenant and priestly weight:

  • Laqach (Took): Means to carry away or to passionately take hold of someone. It is the exact Hebrew word used when a man takes a bride by the hand. God did not simply assign Adam a job; He passionately grabbed him like a groom taking a bride, grounding him in covenant intimacy before ever assigning him a responsibility.

  • Abad (Tend): Means to cultivate, work, minister, and worship.

  • Shamar (Keep): Means to watch, guard, and protect.

Remarkably, the words abad and shamar appear together nowhere else in Scripture except when describing the specific charge given to the Levitical priesthood over the Tabernacle:

Numbers 3:7–8 They shall keep guard (shamar) over him... as they minister (abad) at the tabernacle... and keep guard (shamar) over the people of Israel as they minister (abad)...

1 Chronicles 23:32 The Levites were to keep charge (shamar) of the tent of meeting... for the service (abad) of the house of the LORD.

Adam was the earth's first priest and first watchman, stationed at the first global sanctuary long before Aaron's sons ever stood guard at the Tent of Meeting. Adam was commissioned to do everything the Levites did behind the curtains and at the altars across the face of the entire earth.

True spiritual authority and territorial dominion always flow from priestly intimacy. We do not battle for the earth from a distance; we subdue the chaos by guarding the sanctuary of His presence.

A MONUMENTAL FAILURE

Tragically, Adam's failure in the Garden was monumental, fracturing all of mankind. His failure to govern his assigned sphere of stewardship caused the fall of everyone who would come after him.

Where did he fail? Adam's fundamental failure was allowing the serpent to speak within his sphere of stewardship.

As the watchman, he should have silenced the adversary with the Lord's spoken word. Adam was formed from the ground (Adamah) and given authority to govern it. Yet in the one moment that mattered most, he allowed the serpent to speak within his sphere of stewardship. Satan sowed doubt, and Adam's flesh — the dirt within him — governed him instead of the divine breath within him. In doing so, he surrendered his authority and lost the glory that had clothed him.

GOVERN OR BE GOVERNED

You must understand that God's unchallengeable intent for mankind — and for you personally — is government. We were structurally designed to govern. This leads to an absolute spiritual law: whatever you do not govern will inevitably govern you.

  • Thoughts: If you do not govern your thoughts, your thoughts will spiral and dictate your reality.

  • Emotions: If you do not govern your emotions, your emotions will rule your decisions and boundary lines.

  • Flesh Suit: If you do not govern your physical appetites, your earthly desires will enslave your spirit.

We are strictly called to govern from the Garden. The good news of the Gospel is that when you were born again, God perfectly restored the Garden within you.

1 Corinthians 6:17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Ponder that truth deeply. You are fundamentally one spirit with the Creator God of Genesis. The ultimate Authority lives within you.

In John 7:37, Jesus declared that rivers of living water will flow from your innermost being, perfectly mirroring the four rivers that once flowed from the Garden of Eden to water the earth. The sanctuary has been reinstated in your heart. It is now our absolute responsibility to rise up, step into our priestly identity, and steward our sphere of authority with resolve.

TWO ADAMS, TWO GARDENS

To see how this blueprint works, we must look to the ultimate biblical contrast. As 1 Corinthians 15:45 and 47 say:

1 Corinthians 15:45, 47 And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit... The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.

Paul shows that God has dealt with humanity only through two corporate men. As in Adam all die, so in Christ all are made alive (1 Cor. 15:22, Rom. 5:12–19). One man's disobedience opened the floodgates of death for all born after him; one Man's obedience unlocked the gateway of life for everyone found in Him. You are either operating from the first Adam or the Last Adam. There is no third option.

Watch where each Adam faced his defining, ultimate test. The first Adam failed in a garden, allowing the enemy's deceptive word to override the Father's instruction. The Last Adam prevailed in a different garden — Gethsemane — refusing to let anything override the Father's word, even with the agonizing reality of the cross in full view:

Luke 22:42 "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

Jesus resolutely trusted that the Father was entirely good. He remained unrelenting in His trust. We see it in the wilderness and in Gethsemane. Every time the enemy brought accusation, enticement, or temptation, Jesus did not argue, debate, or negotiate. He drew the sword of the Spirit and cut off deception's power at the threshold, declaring: "It is written... it is written... it is written."

He simply said what His Father said. In this season, the church must learn to do the same: master yielding to the Lord's sword while wielding the sword of His word.

ONE NEW ADAM, ONE NEW BREATH

The triumph of the Last Adam reestablishes our original mandate.

In John 20:21–22, the resurrected Christ walks through the doors and stands before His disciples:

John 20:21–22 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you." And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit."

This directly resonates with Genesis 2:7. Just as the first Adam received breath straight from the Father's mouth, becoming a living gateway, the Last Adam breathes His resurrected Spirit into a new corporate body of sons and daughters. He commissions them exactly as He was commissioned. The original call to govern, subdue, and guard a sphere of stewardship did not expire in Eden — it simply changed addresses. We now carry the breath.

This is the ultimate mystery in human history. Paul outlines this grand administration in Ephesians 1:9–11:

Ephesians 1:9–11 ...that in the stewardship (oikonomia) of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth — in Him.

The Greek word oikonomia literally means household management — the structural oversight and administration of an owner's estate. This is the same corporate stewardship Adam was given over the Garden. Paul uses this word to show what God is doing through the ages: gathering heaven and earth into a single, unified reality under the Last Adam, now administered not by one lone human being but by an entire corporate body.

As Ephesians 1:22–23 concludes, God has put all things under His feet and made Him the head over all things to the church, "which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all."

Colossians 1:27 summarizes this mystery as "Christ in you, the hope of glory."

The identical gateway Adam was built to be — the structural door between heaven and the chaotic waters — Christ has now permanently engineered into every son and daughter who carries Him. God never created mankind to rescue them from the earth to heaven. God's unchanging intent was for Adam and for the Last Adam's corporate body to manifest heaven right here on earth. We are one new corporate Adam: a governing body carrying heaven's breath into the earth's waters, moving forward until the glory of the Lord completely fills this earth, as the waters cover the sea.

DECLARATION

So today, Father, we arise with Your rhema and the sword of the Lord's word, and we cut off every satanic intrusion. We loose Your authority over every family tree, and we cut off the enemy from our physical bodies, our mind, will, and emotions.

We say the blood rebukes every foul, unclean spirit trespassing upon our household, our finances, our relationships, and our whole sphere of stewardship. We cut off the enemy's voice and loose the voice of the Lord. We say this day is a day of new beginning, a day of dominion, and a day of the mantle of government coming upon us.

We break the power and sever the cords of the iniquity structures affecting our family members. We say, thus far and no more — the enemy will not trespass upon our sphere of stewardship. A mantle of light is coming upon you today, a mantle of God's original intent. From this day forward, you will see the enemy, and cut him off, and break the power of his deceptive voice — not just off you, but off all those you represent and are called to steward.

So I say today: rise, mighty man, mighty woman, and begin to wield with authority. Thus says the Lord.
